Minimum Requirements for Participation
Participants:
Participants must have a motorcycle operator's license, motorcycle insurance and proper riding gear including motorcycle-specific riding jacket, riding gloves, boots and DOT-approved helmet (3/4 or full-face helmets required). Riders should have at least 3000 miles of on-road experience prior to enrolling in a training tour. It is also helpful if riders have at least some prior experience riding on mountain roads – especially those riding large touring or cruiser bikes.
Motorcycles:
Motorcycles are expected to be in excellent operating condition including all safety equipment (current safety inspection for bikes registered in states that require annual inspection). Tires must be motorcycle-specific design (no auto-type tires will be permitted) and have a minimum of half tread remaining on both front and rear tires. Tires must be free of any signs of dry rot. Brakes must not only be in good operating condition but should have sufficient pad material. While we don’t require that riders have a stock exhaust system on their motorcycles, we do insist that the exhaust is reasonably quiet. Because radio communication is so critical to our training, excessive noise can interfere with clear coaching. Also, some of our parking lot drills are conducted in quiet neighborhoods where repeated passing by loud motorcycles can be viewed as a public nuisance.
Tour Terms & Conditions
Rain Policy
Training tours run rain or shine. In fact, riding in the rain can often be a tremendous learning tool. Even so, lessons may be delayed, shortened or rescheduled--even at the last minute--when conditions beyond our control warrant. It is always our interest in conducting training sessions when it is safe to do so.
Reservations & Payment
2-day programs and training tours - $100 non-refundable deposit secures your dates; balance due 30 days prior to course or tour.
3-day training tours and custom training tours- $200 non-refundable deposit secures your dates. Balance due 30 days prior to course or training tour.
Standby registrations on booked training tours - $100 (fully refundable) deposit required.
Cancellations & Refunds
Deposits are non-refundable (other than those booking "standby") if cancellation is by registrant. Balance is refundable up to 30 days prior to tour date. Due to the high cost of insurance and other hard costs associated with each tour, cancellations made within 15 business days of the scheduled tour date are subject to forfeiture of the entire tour balance. We make every effort to secure a replacement rider whenever we have a cancellation. We have a good record of recouping at least some of the balance for riders who cancel more than 15 business days of the tour date, however we cannot make any promises.
Tour Cancellations
Stayin' Safe reserves the right to reschedule or cancel tours due to a shortage of registrants, extreme weather conditions or other unforseen circumstances. Every effort will be made to accommodate registrants on alternate dates. For those who are unable to participate on alternate dates, a full refund will be provided, including deposit.
