This is our most spectacular training tour ...if only because it's the longest. It also offers pristine mountain scenery, vertical climbs of over a mile and the most curves of the three training tours--some 5000 by our recollection.

The training tour begins with a good ol’ fashioned country breakfast at The Steak House in Baldwin, GA. For those who would prefer to take advantage of their motel's free breakfast, joining the rendez-vous for "just coffee" (or nothing at all) is just fine. Following a brief orientation, we head for the training range at the local fairgrounds for a round of warm-up drills and then hit the road. After some gently curving foothills, we're in the mountains ...and that's where we'll stay for three days. Distances on this training tour can vary, as we like to give riders a ‘direct option" and a ‘tourist option’ to finish out their day in the mountains. This is pure mountain riding, so the roads are steeper and more banked than the Ohio roads, but they're also more predictable.

We'll spend two nights in beautiful Waynesville, North Carolina -- a well-preserved artsy/folksy little gem with a vibrant, walkable downtown. Each night we sample a different restaurant from the options only a few block's stroll from our accommodations.

In addition to the great roads on this trip, we're fortunate to have a large practice range, so we're able to practice cornering and braking drills at "real world" speeds. And because the roads are so plentiful, we never know exactly where we'll end up. Sometimes we run part of the Blue Ridge Parkway (el. 6000') ...and sometimes we don't. We might do two, three or even four states! The training tour finishes at 3:00 on the third day, and as members typically assemble from a wide area, we try to make the exact termination point the most accessible to the majority.
