Rolling hills, sweeping curves, tight combinations, meandering river roads and everything from the thick growth of the Allegheny National Forest to the congestion of small town traffic.
A variety of roads and riding environments, plus generally light traffic conditions makes this a fertile training ground. Our first day is a busy one. After a breakfast meeting, we do about an hour and a half of closed course drills, then ride for the remainder of the day. Our route takes us through farmland and on north to the Allegheny National Forest. Generally the roads are not too steep, so it is possible to ride all day and rarely use your brakes. The challenge lies in the many blind turns and rollercoaster hills. First day mileage, not counting drills, is usually 170-200. In the evening, we wind along River Road to our lodge just a stone's throw from the Clarion River in Cook Forest. We stay at the Clarion River Lodge, overlooking the Clarion River. We’ll enjoy dinner right there at the inn. After a buffet breakfast at the inn, we’ll view video footage and discuss riding strategies. Once back on the road by mid morning, we'll work on advanced braking and cornering techniques and explore some of northern Pennsylvania's best forested roadways. At about 4:00 PM and after an average of about 150 miles, the tour ends near Clearfield, Pennsylvania and the group members head toward their respective destinations. For those returning toward Pittsburgh, the are welcome to join the instructors on an extended ride south. Be sure to check out or
